Abstract

his study delves into the profound influence and far-reaching implications of standardized language tests, particularly within the context of Uzbekistan's education system. These assessments, notably those aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), serve as gatekeeping mechanisms, shaping educational opportunities and social mobility. Additionally, it sheds light on the negative impacts on teaching practices and student learning while advocating for democratic testing methodologies that emphasize equity, fairness, and educational integrity.
